| Recieved the chassis that I will be using for my Chevy LS1 V8 swapped Mazda Rx-7 two days ago. It’s in very good condition, save for needing paint on the sideskirts and front bumper. The shell was delivered to me by the owner, on a flatbed trailer. Pictures of the shell below:
The car sat in storage for several years, after the motor (a 1.3L twin-turbo rotary) let go. FD motors apparently like to do that. Based on the way that the inside of the engine bay looks, it appears that there was an engine fire. Either way, most of the stock harnesses won’t be reused, so I’m not too worried. The tires are dry-rotten from sitting in storage so long.
So far, I have managed to shatter the plastic meter hood. The plastic was brittle from those 3 years of storage and didn’t want to dislodge the clips holding it in place, instead opting to break into a million little pieces. Order will be placed soon for a new one.
The current head unit is a miserable hack job. I’m looking for a head unit that could pass as a factory head unit, but would control a CD changer. I plan on mounting the CD changer in one of the rear bins (in the Rx-7, there are storage bins behind the seats). |
