| Steering rack went in, after many bloodied knuckles, swear words, spilled beers, and other bad things. For some brilliant reason, I kept trying to wad the steering shaft on the wrong side of the driver side motor mount. I finally figured it out though:

Reviewing this post a few years later reminds me of how I should have kept this steering rack. This rack was eventually sold for a fully welded manual rack, which was then traded for another power rack. Brilliant.

At this point, purely because I feel like it, I’d like to note how horrid the factory Mazda swaybar mounts are. They’re made of what looks like home depot steel, flex constantly, and have been known to damage the frame rails in competition situations. I ordered Widefoot racing swaybar mounts to replace the factory ones, because they’re solid aluminum, and I got a really nice price for them.
