| Engine came in today. 2002 Chevrolet LS1 5.7 Liter Small Block V8. Aluminum block and heads. 48k miles on the clock. I kind of expected some redneck in a pickup truck, but I got this instead:
This particular one has the LS6 block (from the C5 Z06 Corvette), which, if I recall correctly, gives it slightly better rings and a hair higher compression ratio. I picked this one up from some yard in South Carolina that specializes in selling these motors (they pull them from salvaged Corvettes, Camaros, and Firebirds).
This, and the ECU was all in one giant shrink wrapped package, weighing in at 793lbs, on the shipping ticket. My friend’s mom must love having this thing in her garage.
